Ford F-150

Chevrolet Silverado 1500

How does our new Ford F-150 compare to the new Chevy Silverado 1500?

Here at American Ford, our portfolio of new Ford models runs the gamut from stunning sports cars to enduring SUVs. However, perhaps the best reason for drivers from Beach to Wibaux to visit our new Ford showroom is the compelling selection of new Ford trucks for sale at our Glendive, MT location. In fact, our new Ford F-150 is far and away the best-selling pickup we have these days, and we'd love to get you behind the wheel of one.

Of course, if you're like many of the keen-eyed shoppers we've served from Baker to Medora over the years, you don't just want to buy or lease a new pickup truck, even one of the caliber of the new Ford F-150, without doing your due diligence. It's critical to weigh your options before choosing your next truck, and it's no secret that there's some fierce competition between our new Ford F-150 and the Chevy Silverado 1500. But while both trucks are strong options in the competitive half-ton truck market, the new Ford F-150 has some key strengths that truly put it head and shoulders above its Chevrolet rival. Read on to learn more about our competitive comparison between the new Ford F-150 and the Chevy Silverado 1500 to discover why so many Montana drivers choose this venerated Ford F-Series pickup truck year after year.

Design

Everyone knows that power and performance are the main measures of excellence for any pickup truck, but there's no denying the appeal of having a pickup truck that turns heads on the open road. And while the Ford F-150 and Chevy Silverado 1500 are certainly capable workhorses with their base trim levels, they also deliver upscale levels of luxury and eye-catching features at higher trim levels.

Take for example the Ford F-150 King Ranch and the Chevy Silverado 1500 High Country. Both of these trims are designed to not just deliver the hauling and towing power that the half-ton truck market is known for, but also eye-catching allure that will turn heads in nearby Medora. But while both may boast more upscale looks, the new Ford F-150 King Ranch undoubtedly has the edge on the new Chevy Silverado 1500 High Country in terms of curb appeal.

While the High Country trim may offer leather upholstery, power-deployed side assist steps, and updated LED headlights, the new Ford F-150 King Ranch positively stuns with its distinctive Western styling theme. From its two-tone exterior and interior trim elements and genuine wood interior accents,  to its stamped Pro Access Tailgate, the new Ford F-150 King Ranch is a tour de force on the design front, easily eclipsing its Chevrolet competitor.

Performance

When it comes to delivering the raw power you need to tackle tough tasks on the open road or on the jobsite in the greater Bloomfield area, there's a clear winner between the new Ford F-150 and the Chevy Silverado 1500.

In its most powerful form, the new Chevy Silverado 1500 is only capable of putting out up to 420 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque. And while that's plenty of power for some drivers, it pales in comparison to the overall output of the new Ford F-150. When properly equipped, the new Ford F-150 can churn out a whopping 720 horsepower and 640 pound-feet of torque, giving you the brawn you need to tackle any task or any terrain with the utmost confidence.

Capability

While horsepower and torque may tell the tale of a truck's overall brawn, it's towing capacity that most Wibaux and Baker drivers will care about. After all, whether you're towing a boat, camper trailer, utility trailer, or even an equipment trailer, having the power you need for just such tasks is of the utmost importance. Luckily, the new Ford F-150 has more than enough power to accomplish any towing task since it can move up to 13,500 pounds when properly equipped. By comparison, the new Chevy Silverado 1500 can only move up to 13,300 pounds, making the Ford F-150 the more capable of the two when it comes to towing.

Utility

One thing that makes the new Ford F-150 stand out from its many competitors like the new Chevy Silverado 1500 is the availability of innovative technologies like the new PowerBoost™ hybrid electric powertrain. This innovative full hybrid powertrain not only affords the new Ford F-150 an unrivaled balance of efficiency and capability, but also fresh utility features that you wouldn't find on other models like the new Chevy Silverado 1500. With the ability to utilize its stored battery electric power as a portable generator for powering everything from power tools on the jobsite to electric griddles and speakers for your next tailgating outing. By comparison, the new Chevy Silverado 1500 does not offer an onboard generator or a hybrid electric powertrain option comparable to the PowerBoost™ technologies offered by the new Ford F-150.

Interior

Both the new Ford F-150 and Chevy Silverado 1500 can be had with a number of different cab styles. For the new Ford F-150, you'll have the option to choose between a Regular Cab, SuperCab, or SuperCrew styles, accommodating anywhere from three to six passengers when properly equipped. However, while both trucks may be roughly equal in capacity, the same cannot be said of their interior quality. While the new Chevy Silverado 1500 may boast some upscale trim options inside, it falls far short of the standard set by the new Ford F-150. With everything from real wood trim and embroidered leather upholstery with massage functions and a two-panel moonroof on its top end Ford F-150 High Country trim, the new Ford F-150 offers a much more premium ride quality than its Chevrolet rival.

Technology & Safety

Both the new Ford F-150 and Chevrolet Silverado 1500 are on roughly even footing when it comes to their technology offerings. Each model can be had with a large and responsive touchscreen infotainment system at its center stack, making it easy to stay connected on the move in the greater Bloomfield area with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The Ford F-150 even features seamless wireless updates for its infotainment interface over 5G Wi-Fi connectivity.

Additionally, both models can be had with their own versions of hands-free highway driving technologies. In fact, with Ford BlueCruise™ on many trims of the new Ford F-150, you can travel hands-free on hundreds of thousands of miles of highways throughout Montana and beyond.
